Stadtteilgewerkschaft Kalk Solidarisch

Seit knapp zwei Jahren bauen wir in Köln-Kalk eine Stadtteilgewerkschaft auf. Inzwischen ist unsere wöchentliche solidarische Beratung ein Anlaufpunkt für Arme, Unzufriedene und Eigensinnige aus vier Kontinenten geworden. Sie alle kommen, weil sie ihre eigene Autonomie erweitern wollen: zu wenig Einkommen, schlechte und teure Wohnverhältnisse, Scheiß-Arbeit oder Ärger mit dem Ausländeramt und/ oder Jobcenter – all das schränkt sie in ihrem Streben nach persönlicher Autonomie ein, und dagegen wollen sie praktisch etwas tun. Dafür kommen sie.
Dass viele von Kriegen direkt oder indirekt betroffen sind, prägt sie.
Deswegen sehen wir die Kämpfe gegen Krieg und Militarismus nicht in erster Linie als Kämpfe linker Aktivist*innen gegen Kapital und Industrie und auch nicht in großen, kurzlebigen Kampagnen. Vielmehr sehen wir die Notwendigkeit, dass die Arbeit gegen Krieg ihre Basis im proletarischen Alltag und im proletarischen Stadtteil findet.
Im Stadtteil, in dem wir hoffentlich einen Anteil daran haben, die Menschen zusammen zu bringen. Hier wollen wir gemeinsam voneinander lernen, uns gegenseitig unterstützen, gegen die Verhältnisse aufbegehren und Alternativen aufbauen.

Working against the war in the neighborhood
District trade union Kalk Solidarisch

For almost two years, we have been building up a district union in Cologne-Kalk. In the meantime, our weekly solidarity consultation has become a meeting point for poor, dissatisfied and stubborn people from four continents. They all come because they want to expand their own autonomy: too little income, poor and expensive living conditions, shitty work or trouble with the immigration office and/or job center – all of this restricts them in their striving for personal autonomy, and they want to do something practical about it. That’s what they come for.
The fact that many are directly or indirectly affected by wars shapes them.
That is why we do not see the struggles against war and militarism primarily as struggles of left-wing activists against capital and industry, nor as large, short-lived campaigns. Rather, we see the need for work against war to find its basis in everyday proletarian life and in proletarian neighborhoods.
In the district where we hope to play a part in bringing people together. Here we want to learn from each other, support each other, rebel against conditions and build alternatives.
